The 8th Annual St. Matthew’s Car Show will be held this year on October 13th, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, rain or shine.  We are again excited to donate much of the proceeds from the show to The Place of Seven Springs.   This year, a portion of the proceeds will go to our Youth Ministry at St. Matthew’s to be used to refurnish the classrooms affected by the flood last year.

Seven Springs is part of the Gwinnett Coalition of Health and Human services.  Families and individuals are referred to them for assistance with emergency housing, utilities and non-narcotic prescription medication. They have a food co-op and operate a Summer Lunch Program for homeless children.  We encourage you all to learn more about Seven Springs and we invite you to visit their facility on Hwy. 78.

As always, the Car Show needs your help. There are many ways to do that. We will need volunteers on the day of the show, sponsors for trophies and t-shirts, raffle items, silent auction items, arts and crafts vendors for our vendor area and cars, cars, cars!!

You can also be a sponsor for the show. Sponsorship levels start at $200 and go up to $1500 and beyond.

We are also in need of Corporate Sponsorship.  Corporate Sponsorship levels would begin at $2000.  The Corporate Sponsor name would be added to all banners, our website and offered show space the day of show.  Their name would be announced throughout the day of show and a sponsor plaque would be awarded to the Corporate Sponsor the day of show.

Cold Mountain Music Festival

  • Lake Logan Conference Center (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS
ColdMountainMusicFestival_WEB+(3).png

Tickets are on sale for the Second Annual Cold Mountain Music Festival, which will take place June 8-9, 2018. The lineup includes Shovels & Rope, Mandolin Orange, River Whyless, Jon Stickley Trio, The Steel Wheels, Tyler Ramsey, DnagerMuffin, The Broadcast, and the Kenny George Band.

Music festivals abound in Western North Carolina, but two things make the Cold Mountain event truly stand out. The first is location. The festival’s setting is Lake Logan, a 300-acre natural paradise featuring a mile-long lake surrounded by the Shining Rock Wilderness Area. Although Lake Logan is just 25 minutes from Asheville, many area residents have never heard of it. Lake Logan was once the home of the country’s first school of forestry, and was later an executive retreat visited by Richard Nixon, George Bush, Billy Graham, and many others. Now owned by the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina, Lake Logan remains one of the most jaw-dropping landscapes within the Pisgah National Forest area. The second special thing about the festival is that it’s an event organized by the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina as a fundraiser for Lake Logan and Camp Henry.

“I think people are often surprised that the Diocese wanted to take on a project like this,” says Michelle Robinson, who co-produces the festival. “Simply put, the Episcopal community is full of people who love good music and having a great time in such a stunning landscape. Lake Logan is a special place, and we are thrilled to share it with the public through this festival.”

Last year, the festival was headlined by Grammy-award winning hometown favorites the Steep Canyon Rangers, supported by acts like Town Mountain, Billy Strings, Love Canon, and Balsam Range.

This year the festival has expanded to include a second night and will offer camping for the first time. On-site cabins have already sold out, but dorm-style bunkhouse lodging is still available. Local food and craft beer vendors will be on hand throughout the weekend, and a kid’s area will offer activities and games for children.

BIENVENIDOS!

The Diocesan Hispanic Ministries Commission invites you to the annual Taste of Latin America Dinner, on Saturday, October 7th, from 5:30 - 8:30 PM, in Child Hall at the Cathedral of St. Phillip, 2744 Peachtree Road, Atlanta 30305.  Hispanic parishioners from around the Diocese will bring authentic dishes from their cultures for this special potluck meal.  There will be music and dancing, a raffle, silent auction — plus a piñata, for the children! Admission is free.  After dinner, hats will be passed for donations.  Money collected will be used to help victims of the earthquake and hurricanes in Latin America and the Carribean.
