Being Episcopalian
We are a vibrant and diverse community of followers of Jesus. No matter your background, race, gender, sexual orientation, or political affiliation. We welcome you with open arms.
What do we believe?
We are a vibrant and diverse community of people who think following Jesus is the best way to live our lives. We believe that God is love so we strive to welcome, respect, love and serve all of God’s children.
What is the Episcopal Church?
The Episcopal Church is a Christian church that is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion. That means we strive to live lives that resemble what Jesus of Nazareth taught and how he lived. We believe that God has and still does speak through the Bible. And we believe that reason, tradition and the Bible help us to know who God is and how we should live as individuals and with others.
You're invited!
You can get to know us best by joining us for worship. We pray, read scripture, and sing most Sundays. Some folks say the best part of the way we do worship is Communion. That simply means that we have a meal together just like Jesus did at his last supper. Everyone is welcome to this meal. We believe this meal gives us comfort and courage to be faithful in the real world.
What are our core values?
Faith. By prayer, worship, fellowship, service, and study we are deepening our trust in God each day.
Love. Jesus said the first and greatest commandment is to love God with all our hearts, souls, and minds. Second, we are to love our neighbors as ourselves. We believe people come to know Jesus Christ through relationships made of love and compassion.
Service. We are the hands and feet of Jesus now so we must act in the service of others. We are called to help those in need, especially the sick, the hungry, the marginalized, and the poor.
Justice. Our world is not perfect. Because of God’s love and justice, we advocate, and fight for justice, equality, and the dignity of every human being.
Stewardship. God has blessed all of us richly in many ways so we cherish opportunities to bless others and to do good in the world.
Where do we begin?
Holy Baptism is how to become a member of of the Christian faith. Just as Jesus was baptized in the River Jordan, we too are baptized in Christ’s name. In this beautiful ceremony of initiation, through water and the Holy Spirit, we are cleansed from sin and given power to live a life of love for God and neighbor.
