After the Crowd

Sep 13, 2019

What happens after the crowd leaves? When there are no more people to please, no more performances to pull off, and no more approvals to win, then what? In that moment, some will choose the crowd over Christ, the crowd over the Christian we could be. In The Origin of Others, the late Toni Morrison said: “The crowd seeker is always the loneliest one.” This life with God, Jesus says, is like building a high tower; it will only climb to the sky if the foundation is strong. And so much of the best foundation stuff is produced in the silence after the crowds leave, when we are alone with God and the cross we bear.

Luke 14:25-33
