St. David’s Common Purpose group will host Allen Hilton, author of the best-selling book A House United: How The Church Can Save The World.
Allen Hilton, Ph.D. is the founder and executive director of House United, a non-profit initiative that helps groups collaborate across theological and political differences. He speaks, writes, and leads people into new habits of dealing with theological and political disagreement with their neighbors.
“Americans are more divided politically than we’ve been since the Civil War. We feel the rift in our bones, as it blows up our Thanksgiving dinners, puts strain on our friendships, divides our churches, and stymies the U.S. government. Sadly, divisive Christianity is part of the cause to all this.” Allen Hilton helps churches ask: “How can we help?” He helps us to live into Jesus’ prayer in John 17, “that they all may be one”. Through his inspirational lectures and habit-changing conversations, Allen helps pave the way for God to transform Christians into a part of God’s solution.
Hilton began as a professor at Yale Divinity School, shifted in the mid-2000s to formation ministries in large churches across the country, then started House United in 2016. Allen lives in Austin, TX with his beloved wife, Liz, and his teenage boys, Sam and Isaac.
