  • The Absalom Jones Center for Racial Healing 807 Atlanta Student Movement Boulevard Atlanta, GA, 30314 United States (map)

The Sewanee Project on Slavery, Race, and Reconciliation is on a mission to investigate the University of the South's entanglements with slavery in the early years of its founding and with slavery’s legacies in the long century of racial injustice after emancipation. Professor Woody Register and Professor Jody Allen will give a general introduction to the national movement in higher education and explore the challenges and opportunities of the projects at Sewanee and William and Mary as well as describe the ways in which the Sewanee Project seeks to connect with the Episcopal Church’s Becoming Beloved Community endeavors and to work with programs like those sponsored by the Absalom Jones Center for Racial Healing.
